  • The Writing University On October 11, 2016, the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa opened a new 6-session fiction writing course How Writers Write Fiction 2016: Storied Women.
  • Ankeny writer MICHELLE SCHLICHER is the author of the novels THE BLUE JAY and GRACIE’S SONG. A graduate of Iowa State University, she subsequently worked for six years in communications and marketing.  Ankeny bookstore Plot Twist will host Michelle and celebrate the launch of her new novel COME THIS WAY.  Join Plot Twist for a fun event with prizes and refreshments. Saturday, November 5, 2016 – 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
  • Celebrating Marilynne Robinson: A reading in honor of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson, on the event of her retirement from teaching at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and her receipt of the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction. October 9 @ 3:00 PM @ Macbride Hall, University of Iowa. Marilynne Robinson was named the 2016 winner of the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction.
